Full Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Arusha via Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be received by a safari representative and assisted through the arrival process before being transferred to your hotel.

After check-in, the rest of the day is free for you to relax and adjust after your flight. Tonight, you stay at Weston Hotel, a classic treasure, set in cozy surroundings, with elegantly design to offer ultimate comfort and relaxation after your flight. The hotel combines spacious rooms with attentive service, fine dining, and ambient surroundings that provide a perfect start to your safari.

Day 2: David Sheldrick Elephant Trust

After breakfast, your guide meets you at 09:00 for a short safari briefing before setting out to the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where young elephants are cared for and prepared for release into the wild.

The morning visit offers a close look at the conservation work that has made the center globally respected. Lunch follows at the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden, a relaxed setting with a touch of Nairobi’s colonial history. The afternoon continues with a stop at KOBE Beads, a workshop supporting local women who work on handmade jewelries.

Dinner is reserved at Carnivore Restaurant from 18:30 to 20:00, famously known for its various selection of grilled meats and lively atmosphere. Return afterward to Weston Hotel for the night.

Day 3: Nairobi Giraffe Center

After breakfast at Weston Hotel, the day starts with a visit to Nairobi Giraffe Center at 09:00am. The center allows close interaction with endangered Rothschild giraffes, offering the chance to hand-feed and photograph these gentle giants. Midday, stop at Tamarind Restaurant for a lunch featuring fresh seafood and local specialties.

The afternoon continues with a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, exploring the former home of the author and gaining insight into Nairobi’s colonial history. Return to Weston Hotel for dinner and overnight. An alternative stay can be arranged at Tamarind Tree Hotel.

Day 4: Fly to Maasai Mara

Following breakfast at the hotel, you transfer to the airport for a flight of about one hour to the Maasai Mara. On arrival at the airstrip, a driver will be waiting to take you to Ishara Maasai Mara, one of the reserve’s most distinctive lodges. The property combines contemporary design with an eco-conscious approach, featuring earth-toned tented suites, a serene infinity pool, and meals crafted from locally sourced ingredients.

A photo studio on site allows you to review and print images from the day. Lunch is served before you settle in, and later you head out for your first game drive across the rolling plains. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5 & 6: Maasai Mara - Full day

Early mornings in the Maasai Mara are prime for wildlife viewing, so it’s best to leave with a packed breakfast while predators and grazers are most active. The reserve is known for big cat sightings, large elephant herds, giraffe, buffalo, and an extraordinary range of birdlife. After hours in the bush, return to the lodge for lunch and, if you wish, take time to rest or visit the photo studio before heading out again in the late afternoon. An evening drive often brings encounters with hyena, lion, and the chance to see plains game in golden light.

If you’re keen to make the most of the whole experience, hot air balloon flights, sundowners, or private meals for special occasions can be arranged with prior notice or booking. On your final night, Ishara or Julia’s River hosts an African meal featuring dishes such as nyama choma and ugali, a memorable close to the stay.

Day 7: Fly to Amboseli National Park

There’s an option for an early morning game drive before breakfast, or you may enjoy a relaxed start with breakfast at 08:00. Soon after, you transfer to the Maasai Mara airstrip for your flight to Amboseli National Park. On arrival, your driver-guide will meet you for a game drive en route to Elewana Tortilis Camp.

This luxury tented camp, set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, offers spacious canvas rooms, fine dining, and a swimming pool with sweeping views. After settling in and enjoying lunch, head back into the park for your first Amboseli game drive. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Amboseli National Park - Full day

After breakfast, set out for a full day in Amboseli National Park, one of the best places in Africa to see elephants up close. The park is also known for its striking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and its rich variety of wildlife. Lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and buffalo are frequently seen here, while giraffes and zebras move across the open plains.

Birdlife is equally impressive with over 400 recorded species, including pelicans, kingfishers, and raptors. Return to camp for lunch, then enjoy the afternoon at leisure, or opt for an additional drive before dinner. Evenings at Elewana Tortilis Camp are relaxed, with excellent meals and the distant call of wildlife carrying through the night.

Day 9: Amboseli National Park to Arusha

After breakfast, you leave Amboseli behind and travel to the Namanga border, where immigration formalities are handled before meeting your Tanzanian guide. From here, the drive continues to Arusha Coffee Lodge, a comfortable retreat set within a working coffee plantation on the outskirts of Arusha.

The lodge is known for its spacious cottages, open fireplaces, and leafy courtyards that create a relaxed setting. Dining ranges from fresh local dishes to international options, with coffee from the estate often taking centre stage. Day 10 Tarangire National Park

Right after your breakfast at Coffee Lodge in Arusha, your safari in Tanzania kicks off with a road trip to Tarangire, arriving in time for lunch at Nimali Camp. The camp blends modern comfort with an intimate connection to the surrounding landscape, featuring spacious tents with private decks and views over the Tarangire plains. In the afternoon, the first game drive introduces the park’s signature wildlife.

Expect to see large herds of elephants moving between baobab-studded landscapes, giraffes browsing acacia trees, and a variety of birds along the Tarangire River. The open savannah and seasonal waterholes attract a range of species, providing excellent wildlife observation. Return to the camp in the early evening for dinner and overnight, taking in the ambiance of the park at night.

Day 11: Tarangire - Full day

Your day begins with an early breakfast before venturing out for a full-day game drive in the park. Tarangire is best known for its high concentration of elephants, often seen grazing near the Tarangire River, as well as herds of zebras and wildebeest across the open plains. The riverbanks and seasonal waterholes attract predators, including lions and leopards, providing opportunities for observation. Birdlife is abundant, with species ranging from hornbills to kingfishers.

During the day, a picnic lunch is served in a scenic spot within the park, offering a chance to rest while surrounded by wildlife. The afternoon continues with exploration of savannahs dotted with baobab trees and quiet forests. Return to Nimali Camp in the early evening for dinner and overnight, enjoying the calm of the park as night falls.

Day 12: Tarangire to Ngorongoro Conservation Area via Mto wa Mbu

Breakfast is followed by a drive toward the Ngorongoro highlands. On the way, you stop at Mto wa Mbu, a village known for its cultural diversity where more than 100 ethnic groups live side by side. A guided walk takes you through banana plantations, rice fields, and bustling markets. You gain a glimpse into daily life, from traditional food preparation to small artisan workshops. A freshly prepared local lunch is served before continuing to NCA.

Tonight’s stay is at The Manor at Ngorongoro, a colonial-style property set within a coffee estate. The spacious cottages feature fireplaces and private verandas, while the lodge grounds provide sweeping views of the surrounding hills. Tloma Mountain Lodge could be an alternative.

Day 13: Ngorongoro Crater - Half

An early start is recommended to catch wildlife at its most active inside the Ngorongoro Crater, sometimes called Africa’s Garden of Eden. Before descending, stop at the crater rim viewpoint for wide panoramas and photographs of the caldera’s floor. The crater itself drops 600 meters and hosts around 25,000 large animals in its 260 square kilometers.

The Big Five are all present, including the endangered black rhino, alongside wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, hippos, and abundant birdlife around Lake Magadi. The enclosed nature of the crater makes game viewing less demanding, offering one of the highest wildlife densities in East Africa. After several hours exploring, you return to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon is free for rest, with dinner served later in evening.

Day 14: Fly to Northern Serengeti (Ndutu) via Lake Manyara Airstrip

An early breakfast is followed by a transfer to Lake Manyara Airstrip for the flight to the northern Serengeti. Your guide meets you on arrival for a game drive towards Lemala Mara & Ndutu Tented Camp, where lunch will be served. The camp is seasonal, positioned to follow the migration herds, with spacious tents, comfortable interiors, and dining areas under canvas.

The setting allows close access to game-rich areas while maintaining a relaxed atmosphere. In the afternoon, set out for a game drive across open plains, returning to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 15: Ndutu to Seronera

Breakfast is served before the drive toward central Serengeti, with game viewing along the way. The journey takes you to Seronera, known for its resident lion prides and year-round wildlife concentrations. Picnic lunch is enjoyed en route before reaching Mbuzi Mawe Serena Camp in the late afternoon.

The camp sits among rocky outcrops, offering comfortable tents with en suite facilities and open-air dining under the acacia trees. Central Serengeti is defined by open savannahs, seasonal rivers, and granite kopjes that attract predators and grazers alike. It is also the best area for spotting leopards resting in tree branches. Dinner is served at the lodge to end the day.

Day 16: Central Serengeti - Full day

The day begins with the option of a hot air balloon safari, drifting over the plains as the sun rises, followed by a bush breakfast. You may also choose an early game drive with a packed breakfast to catch wildlife at their most active. Alternatively, take a slower morning at the lodge and enjoy breakfast before heading into the park for a late morning game drive. Central Serengeti is a year-round haven for predators, with lion prides spread across the plains and cheetahs often spotted on the go.

The area’s open grasslands, seasonal rivers, and scattered kopjes create varied habitats that attract a wide range of wildlife. Lunch may be packed for the field, or you can return to camp and unwind until later in the evening when a sundowner rounds off the day.

Day 17: Fly back to Arusha - transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport

Enjoy an early breakfast followed by a short drive to the nearby airstrip for your flight back to Arusha. On arrival, a representative will transfer you to Mount Meru Hotel, where day rooms are available for freshening up and relaxing before your onward journey. The hotel offers spacious grounds, a pool area, and excellent views of Mount Meru rising above the city, providing a fitting backdrop to reflect on your safari. Lunch will be served at the hotel restaurant. In the afternoon, you will be driven to Kilimanjaro International Airport in time for your evening departure, bringing your safari to a close.
